September is a month of beginnings and endings. As summer draws to a close, we start to pack up the bright, sunny, cheerful colors of pinks and blues and turn to the more muted but just as pretty colors of the fall.
The rusts and greens of our clothes reflect the gorgeous colors of the trees as they transition to a winter sleep. Fall is my favorite time of year. The cooler temperatures and the crispness in the air signal the beginning of new activities, friends and family. For us, September is packing up the camp and winterproofing the house. Linens are packed away, pantry and shelves emptied and appliances disconnected. Draining the waterlines and pulling them from the lake is the final task before we start the 10-hour trek home to Cranberry Creek.
This September, Ralph and I will be heading to Seattle for a cruise with friends. We will meet in Seattle, board our ship and head north to Alaska. This trip will finish my lifetime visits to all 50 states. Creekers will get a few last chances at summer flings with the Reggae Party on the 3rd and the pool closing extended to the 9th. Although the Water Aerobics will have their final kicks on the 6th, Energizer Bunnies, the Garden Committee and the Knitwits are back in full swing. The other activities such as cornhole, horseshoes and pickleball are still on the schedule. Please check your Calendar for dates and times of the community activities.
