Ok, it was me. I’m the Otis Bog accident that CC President Roy mentioned in his Message from the Board. All is good. The Little Egg Harbor First Aid and the Little Egg Police were wonderful, very kind and efficient. The car that hit me also hit the fire hydrant… the fire department showed up.
After being thoroughly checked out, I was allowed to go home. Having finished with phone calls to the insurance adjuster, I made good use of my Christmas present, a heat and massage recliner with a lovely glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
My observations of the event aren’t all that memorable, but I didn’t know that a bag of rice could fly from the back of my Sante Fe to the front without bursting. Thankfully, the soup cans didn’t launch. Ralph and I had been discussing whether or not to buy a new car. Well, the decision was made for us as my car was totaled. We talked about different models, looked at several brands and decided that we liked our old Sante Fe so we would just get the new model. We didn’t get all the bells and whistles, like the blue light compartment to sanitize our cell phones, but we certainly got a lot of beeps and bleeps.
What a difference seven years can make.
In this new era of driving, we don’t have a gear shift. We have a gear flipper, We can speak to the car as it also (annoyingly) speaks to us. “Do you want to take a coffee break?” No, because then I would have to stop and take a potty break half an hour later.
The computer screen extends across three-fourths of the dashboard. And all sorts of new icons to learn. Thank goodness the handbook has an icon chart included. I have been driving around the community to get comfortable with the newer technology and I see great signs of spring.
Neighbors are out working on their gardening. Thank you, Gene Cranmer, our resident Master Gardener, for giving a talk on container gardening at the Garden Committee last month. Don’t forget to pick up your plant sale purchases on May 17 at the clubhouse. By the way, the clubhouse looks very pretty with the trees in bloom, new plantings and the new river-rock beds.
Please try to enjoy the Pool Opening breakfast on May 24 and the Sunshine Club’s breakfast after attending the Veterans' Club Ceremony on May 26.
Enjoy these warmer days and Stay Safe!!
